How can I add a keyboard shortcut for the Eyedropper in Developer Tools without an extension?

My question says it all. I only want to add a single keyboard shortcut. I haven't found an extension that allows me to point to the Eyedropper and would prefer not to use one anyway.

So the main question is how to add a keyboard shortcut for the Eyedropper, with a more general question of how to add or customize keyboard shortcuts in general without extensions.

What Eyedropper button do you mean ? Is that the one that opens if you open a color picker pop-up in the Inspector (changing a color value in the Rules view) or the more standalone Eyedropper that you can access via the Web Developer menu or button next on the Filter line in the Inspector?

The Eyedropper item in the Web Developer menu has an access key (y).

First, I'm talking about the Eyedropper in the Developer menu.

Second, how have I never seen the button in the Inspector?! I basically keep the Inspector open all day for my job and I've never noticed it.

Third, the access key doesn't work for me, maybe because I'm on a Mac. If there's a way to get it working, that'd be awesome. But just knowing about the button in the Inspector will save me so many clicks.
