"Relaying denied" comes up when I reply to an email from a second party. But no such error message when I email myself. How do I fix this?

I get excellent response when I test email myself through Thunderbird. But when I try to reply to a second party email in my Inbox, I get an error message saying "Relaying denied". Checking my Sent folder, my reply is listed. So it seems to work, but I want to get rid of the error message. How do I do this?

Try writing an e-mail from scratch to someone by typing the address in the address To: field

harry@aol.com

instead of replying or writing to yourself.

Do you have a webmail client for the account you are using? Try using that to see if you get the same result.

And check Tools->Account Settings in both your name, your reply to address and the Server config. Since the other party thinks you are RELAYING it means you are writing in behalf of someone else.

Or... there is an issue on the other end. Like if Harry has his e-mail set to be relayed to harry.doe@gmail.com and Gmail doesn't accept the message that harry@aol.com is sending from you to them.
