A few weeks ago I came a cross a new and odd problem. I'm running Firefox 56, 64 bit.

Of all websites only on the BBC.com website I get this error message on any clip video window:

"Sorry, you need Flash to play this. Enable it in your browser or download Flash Player here."

If I copy the URL and open it up in any other browser it works! Only in Firefox 56 and the BBC.com website produces this error!

Any clues?

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open the Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

On the left side of the page, select Plugins. Make sure the ones you want to use are set to Ask or Allow. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Go to the web page. Once the page is loading, mouse to the address bar and Left-click the icon. Select Permissions. In the menu, Make sure the ones you want to use are set to Ask or Allow.

NOPE. Everything is set to allow and clicking on the icon in the address bar says "you have not granted this site any special permissions". no option to set anything.

I did a test. The problem is unrelated to any add-ons. The other problem I have is that it does not memorize custom browser window size. I created a new profile and installed all the same add-ons. Everything works fine and at the bbc.com site the flash player has no error message and Firefox window size remembered.

So this lets me reasonably conclude there is something in the profile that causes this problem. Now the $99,000 question is: what?

Actually`it might have been in the new Flash install fixing something that is corrupted. Have had this several times this week and a new flash has fixed the issue. As for the Profile ya is possible something got corrupted there as not unusual. As to what, your guess is as good as ours. Is always good to have a saved Profile and bookmarks/passwords if they mean lots to you.

I am glad to hear that your problem has been resolved. If you haven't already, please select the answer that solves the problem. This will help other users with similar problems find the solution more easily. Thank you for contacting Mozilla Support.

How do you conclude that the problem is resolved? It is not.

The alternate profile was merely to test behavior and aid in pointing. I want to find the line of [missing?] code (in which file?) in the profile that causes this problem

Is the Flash working on BBC ? How do you know it is the Flash Player working as BBC uses both Flash and Html5 and the browser chooses. ? http://www.bbc.co.uk/html5 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data#w_working-with-profiles

If you really need more help on profiles reply with such and someone else with more Profile Experience will help you.
