after recent update, thunderbird for linux has added message mini-preview; where to turn it off

The recent update to Thunderbird for Linux (128.4.0esr) has added a mini-preview to my email messages in the email list and I cannot find where to turn that back off. I just want to see the basic message and I can now only see far less as many messages in my message list as I could just before this update was applied. I just want to know where to turn it off as I cannot find it.
