Why firefox doesn't show placeholder/icon for broken images?

more options

My question is exactly like these posts:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1047715 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1016612

In both of them, selected answer refers to the following link which is not available now:

http://megashare.altervista.org/blog/2012/08/enable-broken-image-placeholders-in-firefox/

I want to know how can I enable broken image icon in firefox. Note that "browser.display.show_image_placeholders" is true in my browser.

Which page is giving you a problem? When I try the missing file and corrupted file scenarios, I get a placeholder.

You may not see a placeholder if the image dimensions are unknown and not specified in the image tag or via CSS or there is an alt attribute..

I forgot about the alt="alt text" issue. When I add that to my test page, the placeholders are replaced by the alt text (naturally).

I think it is not natural. Chrome shows icon AND alt text together. I want such behavior in firefox.

One workaround would be to apply the style rule from the lower part of the demo page, or a variation of the rule, to all pages. This can be done using either an add-on such as Stylus or by creating an optional userContent.css file.

Or if you aren't in a hurry, you can submit comments and suggestions for feature changes through one or more of the following links:
