Hello,

We have set a fixed proxy in Firefox on our employees' notebooks. However, when the notebooks do not have a VPN connection to our network, the proxy cannot be reached. Firefox then disables the proxy after a short time. I found the setting network.proxy.failover_direct under about:config and thought that setting it to false would solve the problem. However, Firefox behaves the same way.

How can I prevent Firefox from accessing the internet except through the specified proxy?

Thank you.

I am an academic. I use Canvas. When I am in Canvas and I try to open a document in it from Firefox, what I get are solid black pages. I do not have this problem with Canvas in Chrome or in Edge. I really don't want to use those Browsers. I actually have this problem with every PDF I try to open from all sites. This is a recent problem. But if I cannot correct it, I will have to use other Browsers.

Hello I am presently running OS10.9.5 on a MacMini from 2013 because there are some expensive programs on there that I will lose when I update the OS. I now know I need to do that regardless. My question is: What OS version should I upgrade to for a secure version of Firefox and, MOST IMPORTANTLY... will my Comcast email account and bookmarks be carried into the upgraded Firefox browser? Thanks. a concerned Gary Bellucci

When my mouse hovers over a link or changes to a new page, the URL displays in the bottom right. This is a feature i like in theory, but the way it is executed, where it displays overlaid on top of the web page, makes reading the web page and interacting with buttons down there frustrating and damn near impossible. this is especially disruptive when using applications in the browser like excel.

where is the setting to make this not an overlay, but part of a separate, bottom bar what is NOT covering the web page?

Hello everyone, i have Linux/Ubuntu software with Firefox browser and for 5 months it has not asked me to update, with it's pop up message. Now it is urgently asking me to update, i have followed the directions given in order to download the latest Firefox version as instructed but with no success. I am downloading it, but it doesn't have an instruction to "run" it. As a consequence, my system is getting slower and slower and i am afraid it will crush! Any ideas? Sooooos!!!

I want to update Firefox but also version Firefox-134 causes the same problem as all previous versions newer than Firefox-95: GUI is not started in my Linux system despite all the requirements noted on the Mozilla pages with the release are satisfied. Basing on that I have read and experimented as well as on response to my bug report, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1938497 I suppose that the new versions of Firefox are not able to start GUI using libGL backend GLX and they require LibGL backend EGL only. This requires libEGL version and other associated libraries that are present only in newest versions of Linux distributions like Fedora-41. These new versions are for new hardware and it is pointless to install them on older hardware because they would work probably ineffectively and cause problems. Linux is very customizable and users introduce adjustments and install software created by themselves, for years. That is why an update to radically new version of the Linux distribution is justified after buying a new computer. This would be required for making the Firefox-134 binary provided to run with GUI as well as for possible compiling it from source.

That is why I would like to ask for consideretion of submitting Firefox-134 binary statically linked (at least the libraries that are required for GUI) so that it will work with GUI on older Linux systems obeying the requirements noted on mozilla pages with Firefox releases, assuming 4-8 GB RAM is available.

Good morning, after today's FF update - right click dropdown menus are terrible! Nothing works for me... Opening new windows, new tabs, adding to bookmarks, copying, pasting, etc... How can I turn it off because I can't use it. I need to have a menu like in version 133.0.3. If I can't change it, I will have to change the browser because I can't use it! Thanks for your answer and best regards! Arthur

Regarding: "Firefox Root Certificate Expiration" on January 14th. I am running OS Mavericks (OS X 10.9.5 (13F1911)) on my iMac. Currently, the latest Firefox version for that OS is 78.15.0esr (64-bit).

What should I do to address a possible Root Certificate expiration?

Or is the 78.15.0esr (64-bit) Root Certificate robust enough to avoid expiration?

Thanks Fred

Right-clicking on a page, image, link or whatnot, to copy/paste text/image/link is outright impossible. Only Ctrl+C & Ctrl+V somewhat save the day, but that's not enough.

Image attached shows the menu that pops-up after right-clicking. It's so long it doesn't fit on the page and has its own scroll-wheel within itself.

No options or help were found in the settings or on forums.

I searched this question in your "support" section It has been asked many times but no answer has been given. In addition the community forum site itself says that 0, 1 or 2 people have this problem when there are many more posts about exactly this problem. Google doesn't seem to be happy about my using Firefox as my browser and now send me directly to their page on cleaning up cookies, etc. When I go to settings in Firefox I get the "Your browser is being managed by your organization" message, but just like the many others who have commented in the community forum, I don't have an organization to manage my browser and I can't even seem to find out what organization Firefox thinks is managing my browser. How do I regain control of my Firefox?

Today the icons on New Tab have been resized which makes it difficult to see the differences. As seen in the attached images the logo icons have been reduced in size but the generic letter icons have had their outside edges overlain with the border. Not only has the visible area of the thumbnail been reduced but the title for each of the icons has also been truncated. Another thing to note is there is also more vertical space between the icons.

When I looked into this further I found information about the about:config page. As per https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1338808 I found and edited the browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newNewtabExperience.enabled key to false. This did not change the icon size.

I also noticed the next key browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newNewtabLayouts.variant-b So I changed it from true to false. This seemed to work... Hooray!!!

Unfortunately after I closed and reopened firefox the small icons were back.

Please help, the shortcut icons are only helpful if they are readable and identifiable.
