My profile was gone, but I found it. But it does not have the small letters and numbers in front of the name. How do I use this profile. I had made a new one.

The flow that happened is in the morning I openen up Thunderbird, but it opened with a fault message, could not find the profile. Did not know what the profile was but know now. Pity I had not backed it up; my mail database is more than 3 gigbytes. After searching the PC but not finding the profile I created a new one in the profile manager and used it to receive my Gmail mails.

I had searched the complete PC (3Tbytes) but not found the profile. But of course I did not really know the name. So I then read about the Profile and saw a few file extensions, such as *.mab. So I searched on the computer again, and after a few minutes I found the profile. Somehow something had moved it to an another folder on an other hard disk.

The file name of the profile is profile. It does not have the code (in letters and numbers) or sum check in front of the name. I cannot get the profile manager/thunderbird to accept the profile. Don't know why the 'sum check' is gone.

How can I modify or change the profile name so it can be use. Any help very much appreciated. If you need more info let me know.

Copy it back into the Profiles folder alongside your new one.

You can call it anything you like, but the trick is to use the same name in your profiles.ini file, which you can edit using Notepad or a similar text editor.

This my profiles.ini, and you can see that I have renamed the profile and changed the entry in this file to correspond.

[General]
StartWithLastProfile=1
[Profile0]
Name=Chris
IsRelative=1
Path=cjr_profile
Default=1

Or use the Profile Manager to "re-connect" it to Thunderbird.
