Firefox browsing windows that were open at shutdown cannot be re-opened upon launch

My workflow is such that organize my tabs into separate windows for distincty different subjects. Generally this work fine; when I shut down, they typically re-open as before.

Recently this function has stopped working. Now when I launch Firefox after a shutdown, the "Window" menu shows that the separate windows still exist, but some of them stubbornly refuse to re-open. Clicking the individual titles in the window menu has no effect, they remain unopened.

When this happened to me a few years ago, I was advised to re-start my laptop in safe mode. At that time this procedure solved the problem, but now it does nothing. Does anyone hve an alternate suggestion?

I am currently using Firefox v132.0 on a 2024 MacBoook Pro running Sonoma 14.6.

Thanks!
