Also, yes Firefox starts ok, but then it crashes after some unpredictable time. The second stacktrace is from running in safe mode.

Am I doing backtraces correctly? I'm following instructions from here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Getting_a_stacktrace_with_gdb

Also, I would attach the about:crashes logs, but they only date back to last August for some reason.

Typically apport crashed, saying it didn't have enough memory to report the error, but then I installed the debugging symbols and it works ok.

Now it's doing some exciting stuff where it won't even open in safe mode. Wheee!
