When I create a new folder in Thunderbird, it doesn't appear unless I close and reopen Thunderbird. Is there a refresh the screen function in Thunderbird?

When I create a new folder in Thunderbird, it doesn't appear unless I close and reopen Thunderbird. Is there a refresh the screen function in Thunderbird? If not, why not? This question was asked previously, without an answer other than to close and reopen Thunderbird, a stupid solution!

I'm replying to myself. I went to Thunderbird, after a few minutes, and lo and behold, the new folder was there. It just took a few minutes to appear. I was too impatient. But why should I have to sit around for a few minutes for the new folder to appear, so that I can put an e-mail into it?

Perhaps you might want to identify the type of folder. I think you will find adding a folder in the local folders will be instantaneous, but adding one to a remote IMAP mail server will take the time of the round trip to the server and however long it takes for the server to actually create the folder. How long that takes is in many regards up to the server responding to the request.
