In Settings -> General -> Files and Applications -> Applications I have set "Portable Document Format (PDF)" to "Open in Firefox".

Opening the PDF on http://www.spectronicdevices.com/pdf/TCD1205D.pdf displays that exact link in the URL bar and I can read the PDF directly in Firefox. As far as I can tell, the file is not saved on disk. Opening https://www.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/download/32192/TOSHIBA/TCD1205D.html and entering the 5-digit code opens a new tab that also allows me to read the PDF in Firefox, but the URL bar shows "file:///C:/Users/N/AppData/Local/Temp/TCD1205D.PDF". The file is saved in my temp folder.

How can I configure Firefox to never save PDF and XML files to disk?

I am using Firefox 130.0.1 on Windows 11.

I was trying to install the lower version of Mozoilla firefox which is compatible with some other website with profile change option and therefore lost all my 100 plus saved passwords. How can I recover the same as I was not logged in from any email I suppose.

And the answer is not useful, mainly because apt-get does not use a browser to update its cache.

Using curl/wget/httpie works as intended, just apt-get update fails.

I have a laptop with an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS CPU, including a Radeon 780M iGPU, running Ubuntu 24.04. In order to fully utilize the GPU by supporting OpenCL acceleration I installed the additional drivers by: `sudo amdgpu-install --usecase=graphics,multimedia,opencl --opencl=rocr --opengl=mesa`

After that programs which benefit from OpenCL acceleration recognize the GPU, however firefox starts crashing with the following error msg:

XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /usr/lib/firefox/libmozgtk.so: libwayland-client.so.0: failed to map segment from shared object Couldn't load XPCOM.

It seems that the AMD GPU drivers registered their libraries in `/etc/ld.so.conf.d` as 10-rocm-opencl.conf, 20-amdgpu.conf which means that libraries within the given folders are found first.

This applies to the libwayland-client library, which is used by `/usr/lib/firefox/libmozgtk.s`:

ldd /usr/lib/firefox/libmozgtk.so | grep amd libwayland-client.so.0 => /opt/amdgpu/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libwayland-client.so.0 (0x00007013767bf000)

Interestingly the same `libmozgtk.so` library is used by thunderbird:

ldd /usr/lib/thunderbird/libmozgtk.so | rg -i amd libwayland-client.so.0 => /opt/amdgpu/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libwayland-client.so.0 (0x00007d44b0f41000)

However thunderbird just works fine, so I expect that there might be something wrong with firefox utilizing this library.

Maybe I should also mention, that I'm not even using wayland as desktop compositor, but good old x11:

echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE x11

Is there any way to further debug this issue?

Years ago we used a program called A&M Deadlink to clean up dead bookmarks in FireFox. What is the latest tool for deleting old bookmarks, removing dead ones and cleaning up?

Youtube brought up in the broswer works fine with audio/video but on other websites I can view the video and can't hear the audio.

Kick.com stream is keep refreshing randomly. I clean install Firefox and didn't install any add-on but issue still continue. I don't have this issue on ms edge

I use Google for my search engine when using Firefox web browser. I've recently been getting a long list of ads / notifications in Google when I activate Google from Firefox. It does not interfere with the functioning of Google but I have no idea how this situation occurred. I am concerned about privacy and security. This does not happen when I use Chrome as my browser. I can access Google when I use Chrome as my search engine with no useless ads or notifications appearing in Google. Thank you Ken

Since the last update of Dark Reader for Firefox for iMac yesterday, when I use Dark Reader what often happens is that the Bookmark Tabs and everything above the Bookmark tabs such as Firefox control buttons, the names of the open tabs, etc. are no longer visible - they're all so dark as to be unreadable. How can this be remedied as I much prefer the dark view and can't figure out how to fix this.

Choppy video playback usually stems from: 1. Internet Connection issues : Poor connectivity affects streaming performance. 2. Device Performance : Low RAM of processing power can hinder smooth playback. 3. App Setting : Video quality or playback setting in YouTube can impact performance. While Setting could also relate to this topic (e.g. adjusting playback quality), Performance and connectivity is more specific to the root cause of choppy video playback.

It seems like a pretty normal request. Yet if I paste that URL into a firefox tab monitored by devtools, it is not recorded. In the network tab, the request has a line in the history, but when I click on the line for more details, all I get is "No headers for this request" in the Headers tab, "No response data available for this request" in the response tab, etc.. All of the tabs are blank. I tried disabling the cache, and still I get the same thing. Why doesn't devtools record this request?
