English (GB) Spell checker would simply not work! 59.0.2 (64-bit)
I have 59.0.2 (64-bit) - Firefox Quantum installed recently. I especially love the Reader Mode compared with lack thereof in Chrome. :) . The only thing that irks me now is the inability to make the spell check work when I type in stuff.
I have the 1) 59.0.2 (64-bit) Quantum version 2) English (GB) Language Pack 59.0 installed under Languages in Add-ons Manager 3) "Check your spelling as you type" enabled under Language in Options 4) Tried setting layout.spellcheckDefault under about:config is set to 1 and 2, still not working.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks :D

Hi, for spell checking you need to install a Dictionary https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/british-english-dictionary-2/
After installing, restart Firefox.

:D It worked! I have learnt that this dictionary pack is necessary in addition to the language pack!

Only a dictionary is needed as you do not need a separate language pack for the inline spell checker in Firefox to work. Only a few locales of Firefox comes with a dictionary due to licensing issues. en-US and I think fr does.
The Language pack is actually used to change the User Interface aka UI of Firefox. Some people may want to have one Firefox install but be able to change the UI to one or more other languages. If they only want one language then they can download Firefox in their language of choice from www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
