I use FF 93.0 on Linux Mint. Sometimes I click on a link and it leads to a PDF file. It then downloads the file, makes hardly any sign that it completed and just sits there. On another computer of mine, FF downloads the file, opens the PDF viewer but does not activate the PDF viewer window.

How can I specify a default PDF viewer such that it always opens the PDF in the specified viewer and for other odd files, it asks me what program to use?

It isn't clear to me what you want to do but Settings gives you a few options. Look on the General page under the heading Applications.
