Use import function - either 'import everything' or 'address book' and 'mail' separately - in all cases no files are found - all systems have basic installation - eudora version 7.1.0.9 (sponsored mode) - thunderbird 24.5.0 - have searched for help, but nothing seems to help

something here does not add up.

Windows 6.1 is windows 7 Eudora apparently does not run on Windows 7 properly.

however check that the registry key that points to the data files is set see http://bahut.alma.ch/2007/09/importing-eudora-address-books-into_10.html

In similar cases I have seen users reporting Thunderbird 2.x can help importing e-mail from programs that aren'd widely used anymore. You could give it a try.

Installed Thunderbird 2.0.0.24 and still could not find either address or mail files when using Import function.

ok what does "all installations are normal" mean? Can you run eudora?

I can run Eudora, am currently running Eudora and have been for many years. "all installations are normal" means that I did not use any advanced option when installing either Eudora or Thunderbird - they were both installed with the default settings

As I said, I have been running Eudora for years - at least three years on Windows 7.

My use of Eudora is very basic, but it does freeze (not respond) occasionally and I have to restart it. But I never loose any data.

The path to my address book files: NNdbase.txt and NNdbase.toc and sub-folder called "Nickname" is as follows:

C:\Users\apex\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Eudora

I created the following text file:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

; Adjust C:\\Path\\To\\Folder below so that it points to your Eudora data folder ; with your nndbase.txt and nndbase.toc files and/or your Nickname sub-folder

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Qualcomm\Eudora\CommandLine] "Current"="Anything C:\\Users\\apex\\AppData\\Local\\VirtualStore\\Program Files (x86)\\Eudora Anything"

Saved it as 'Eudora-to-Thunderbird.reg' - and double-clicked it. It executed successfully.

Using Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0.0.24, I tried the Import function & instead of the 'no file' message, there was now a Browser pop-up.

I was not able to navigate the pop-up browser to the Eudora folder above.

I created another folder at 'C:\apex\My Documents\Eudora to Thunderbird', copied the contents of the above folder and navigated to the new folder.

The Import now worked!!

I still do not understand why the .reg file did not work.
