When I click on the Firefox icon, nothing happens. None of the solutions on the Mozilla site apply or look like what I see on my screen. I can't delete Firefox by dragging it to the Trash, as your site advises, because my computer says Firefox is open so can't be deleted. But when I click on Quit Firefox, nothing happens. When I click on websites in email messages, nothing happens.

When I click on Download, on the page your link takes me to, the icon that appears on my screen as the download is greyed out. Nothing happens when I click on it.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to Troubleshoot the issue and to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

Every solution on the Mozilla pages, including this one you advise, begins by saying to click on a three bars icon on the Menu. I do not have that three bar icon on my screen. So I cannot follow any of the steps.
