WHY DON'T THE BOOKMARKS SHOW BACK UP WHEN SELECTED?
Absolutely every single time I update your obviously not-updated-at-all-since-it's-still-broken browser, the bookmarks toolbar REFUSES to show up even when the option is selected. You can select and unselect as many times and you want and it WILL NOT WORK. The only way I could get them to show back up was by right clicking on the space beyond the tabs and selecting it. Why do you have that option? Why does that one work and the other not? I seriously cannot comprehend how it's okay to take away an hour of my time every time I try to update and have to spend my time and energy regaining my settings when apparently Firefox ALREADY KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE!!! I'm not joking, I didn't even get a chance to TRY selecting "show bookmarks" because IT WAS ALREADY SELECTED. And guess what? NO BOOKMARKS, AS PER USUAL. I'm just so fed up with this and clearly I am not the only one who has this issue, since someone else--NOT YOU--had to post about how THEY solved the problem in order or me to fix it since the solution was CLEARLY NOT OBVIOUS OR PROVIDED ON YOUR WEBSITE. And you know what, guys? I like Firefox, I do, but I DO NOT have time to learn how every single aspect of my already illogically set-up computer/browser works. I just don't. I would like to spend my time relaxing after a long day of hard work where I am expected to fix my mistakes and perform perfectly. Just saying.

I can tell you're really frustrated. The ways that you should be able to display the Bookmarks Toolbar including the following:
- right-click a blank spot on the tab bar (or the "+" button)
- tap the Alt key to activate the classic menu bar > View > Toolbars
- in Customize mode > Show/Hide Toolbars (see: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars)
Each of those should show the identical list of available toolbars (other than the main toolbar, since you can't show/hide it). Toolsbars with a checkmark should be showing. Those without a checkmark should not.
Normally, your preference for which toolbars are displayed should not change when you update Firefox. The two things which would change it are:
- Using the Refresh feature (sometimes you may see a button to speed up Firefox by restoring some default settings -- that's the Refresh button)
- Deleting a settings file named xulstore.json, which normally is not disturbed during an update.
Now... as you know, Firefox is easy to customize with add-ons, so it's possible that an add-on is not fully compatible with newer versions of Firefox and is stepping on these settings in some way. If it happens again, you could share a list of your extensions by copy/pasting it from the support information page. Then we could review those and see whether we spot any obvious trouble spots.
To get to the list, you can use either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
Scroll down to the Extensions heading, use the mouse to select from there through the table that follows and copy, and then paste into a reply. It will look a little messy, but don't worry, we're used to it.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.
- "3-bar" menu button > Customize > Show/Hide Toolbars
- View > Toolbars
You can tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar - Right-click empty toolbar area
Open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.
- "3-bar" menu button > Customize
- check that "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
- if "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize palette into the Customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
- if missing items are in the Customize palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
- if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the Customize palette then click the Restore Defaults button to restore the default toolbar setup
