I have been a mozilla user all the way back to netscape navigator. But this message is being sent from Chrome browser. That's because firefox did an update and in the process removed all previous user data from computer. So when I launched firefox this evening everything was back to as if first time new install. No bookmarks, no saved password, etc. Had my IT people check if the info just got moved. Nope. Gone completely. They check program data and appdata (local and roaming) nothing anywhere on computer. Looks as if Mozilla programmers are following Microsofts programming standards now. I won't run IE, never have. And it seams since IE has lost it's job at Microsoft, mozilla has adopted it. So, after more than a decade with mozilla I bid mozilla farewell.

Sorry for the Issue

Please check back Firefox and use Firefox SYNC

Sorry you had problems. Obviously something that should not happen and was not by design.

It is of course good practice to keep backups and it would have helped had you somehow backed up your Firefox profile. Personally I like occasionally making manual backups

Sync was mentioned in a post above.

It may be of use to you, or other readers of this thread, to note that the Windows OS itself would normally make previous versions of profiles available.
