After computer automatically updates latest from Thunderbird, I discover that right hand clicking of mouse on any item within Thunderbird email (including the tool bar) gives me a blurred pic of my whole email page. I cannot save, move, highlight, delete, tag, junk anything on Thunderbird emails. I also discovered that doing a systems restore before the update, puts all the emails and abilities back to normal. What is in the latest update from Thunderbird that is so destructive to my email page and how can I avoid updates? Kindest regards Marg

just a note to let you know that system restore has messed up more Thunderbird installations than it has ever fixed.

Now you are back where you started, there is absolutely nothing anyone can do to assist you as you have no issue to diagnose.

The latest Thunderbird is 31.4.0

TRy this:

Make hidden files and folders visible:

Help > Troubleshooting Information

  • click on 'Show Folders' button - a new window will open showing Profile folder.
  • Close thunderbird now - this is important

look for and delete these files.

  • session.json
  • localstore.rdf

Close window - top right X Restart Thunderbird.

RE: Updates If you do not want to receive updates you can switch this off, although it is not recommended as updates often include security fixes. Tools > Options > Advanced > Update tab select: Check for updates. but let me choose whether to install them or Never check for updates (not recommended security risk) click on OK to close and save changes.
