Reminder pops up and I can't dismiss

more options

I have read a previous solution and it did not work, so please do not refer me to it. Thanks.

I have a reminder for three events. When I dismiss it, Thunderbird immediately goes to synchronizing every event in my calendar. It then pops up the same reminder.

I can not access the menus, email or the calendar either with the event open or while it is synchronizing. All I get is a "ding" noise when I press anything in the main body of the program.

Someone else with this issue was told to uncheck read only in some menu, but I can't even get into the menus.

I can't read anything beyond the titles on emails.

I am also having the same problem! this page says there are solutions and answers but they are not clickable. How can I fix this when thunderbird has basically become a brick?
