thunderbird macOs (up to date on a 2019 mac mini). the smtp password for my primary account gets erased every time an update is downloaded.

i find no way to enter the password associated with the smtp server outside of waiting for a failure and a popup which requests a new password.

my secure password is long and random and it is a real pain to be required to enter it again and again.

a method of entering a stable password via account preferences would be worth considering.

many thanks, and peace

I cannot help with the disappearing passwords, but you can edit the password at tools>preferences>privacy&security in the passwords section.
