The Find function rarely finds what I search for, even when I can see it on the page where I'm searching.

The question says it all. It used to work just fine, but it ceased to function properly with the last few updates.

I'm on an iMac running OS X 10.6.8, Firefox 28. I had the same problem with 27.0.1 and the update before it.

Chosen solution

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
