I am unable to add bookmarks to a certain folder. Firefox acts like it's adding them, but they're not there. I have tried Reset Firefox, which didn't help.

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

I checked my places.sqlite and it is not "read only."

I did a Restore of my most recent bookmarks.

I am still unable to add bookmarks to one of my folders. All the others work fine. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

You will have to do further steps to check for issues with the places.sqlite from the above posted KB articles as it is still possible that the file is corrupted.

OK, I've done: 1. exit Firefox, shut down and reboot my pc 2. backup bookmarks and restore. 3. Places Maintenance extention. 4. Reset Firefox 5. There is no places.sqlite.corrupt file 6. my places.sqlite is not "read only."

Is the only option left to rebuild my bookmarks and lose all browsing history?

Did you delete the places.sqlite file?

No.

Is it possible to move all the bookmarks in the problem folder to a new folder all at once? I'm guessing there are a couple hundred bookmarks in the problem folder.

Thanks.

If the places.sqlite file is corrupted then your only option might be to delete the file as it can be difficult (if not impossible) to identify and repair the file if the Places Maintenance extension wasn't able to fix the file with all the boxes ticked in its settings window.

What about my other idea - Is it possible to move all the bookmarks in the problem folder to a new folder all at once?

Thanks.

Hi,

Create a new folder and move the ones in the old to the new folder. Oh and make sure you can add new bookmarks to the new folder before moving. Delete your old bookmark folder after you completed the process successfully. Hope this helps
