Xpunge no longer works since the Thunderbird update; the new one won't be ready until sometime in Sept. (hopefully). I installed the only other add-on that looks as though it should be able to get rid of what's in my junk mail folders. However, I can find no information on it.
It says it's in its own folder, but I can't find it anywhere. It doesn't seem to work automatically and I can't seem to refuse permission for it to read and move my messages (or any other permissions). Does anyone know anything about this? With Xpunge I clicked on it and all of the messages in my junk and/or trash folders (my choice) were deleted; that's what I'm looking for.
1. Where can I find it? It isn't on the toolbar. 2. Can I expect it to automatically move messages to my junk mail folder -- messages that I don't want junked? 3. Will it delete all of the mail in the junk folders of all of my accounts or just move mail to the junk folders? I'm computer-based.

When I tried to set up a second email account (peters-up40@t-online.de), I received the following error message: "login to the server failed. The configuration, username or password may not be correct." The new address is correct, it was confirmed to me by Telekom. The PW is the same as in my first email address. What did I do wrong? I have set the retention policy on my Thunderbird account for 30 days both in the setting for the inbox and the All Mail inbox and I have used the same setting for my account however it only works on the inbox and I have 1745 message in the All Mail folder which intermittently deletes the older messages and then restores them.
Am I doing something wrong?

I allowed one of my domains to expire recently, but forgot to remove the account from Thunderbird (TB). Since the domain no longer exists, TB is choking--to the extent that I am unable to access the menu (i.e, File | Work Offline or Settings.)
I have been trying to start TB offline using the Profile Manager, setting the default profile to Work Offline, but that doesn't work. I have use the command line parameter "-safe-mode", but that has no effect. I found an ancient (18 years old) forum post that mentioned a "-offline" parameter, but that too had no effect.
I've been looking for a way to manually edit the profile, but haven't found anything.
I am really stumped. Any assistance/insights into this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I just downloaded the latest Thunderbird version, but the design looks nothing like advertised on the picture in the website. I really want to have the newest features and design, but mine still looks like the very old, basic design. What can I do to update this? I have checked for any newer updates and it shows that my app is up to date.

I sent out "1" e-mail to "169 clients" and 31 came back as not deliverable, they ended in either, "att.net" or "sbcglobal.net" e-mail address's.
So I resent "31" individually e-mails back out, 1 at a time", and it took longer for them to come back, but they ALL came back, as not deliverable AGAIN! they all ended in "att.net" or "sbcglobal.net".
In case you are wondering: I been in business since 2003 and have sent out alerts to my customers as needed, and I have NEVER encountered this problem before! I did send it out using my "Hotmail webpage account", and it sent and hasn't come back yet. So it seems its a Thunderbird issue? Thanks in advance for any help you can be to resolve this issue for me. I been using Thunderbird e-mail Program for as long as I can remember.

I'm a long-time user and big fan of T-Bird, but I've been having an issue lately that is driving me nuts.
When using T-Bird, the program frequently locks up for maybe 10-30 seconds, especially when deleting messages, transferring messages to folders, and when downloading new messages. This is super frustrating because it's hard to get much done when your critical software is frequently locking up the entire system.
This happens on all three of my PCs (two workstations and a laptop); two are Win 10, one is Win 11, and this problem is not happening with any other software. I've looked at the task manager when it happens and killed any processes that are taking more than a negligible amount of CPU, but that doesn't fix the problem.
It's hard to know exactly where T-Bird is getting hung up without the right profiling tools, but it seems to happen most frequently when accessing the network. At first I thought it might be a disk space issue, but it's still happening on all the machines even after optimizing the disks and deleting the recycle bin, temporary files, etc. to ensure there's plenty of free disk space.
The only thing I've tried that seems to help a little bit is turning off the quick filter.
I've tried asking support at my ISP (InMotion) if the delay might be caused by the mail server, but sadly they are a bunch of worthless idiots.
Any advice or feedback on how we might narrow down or fix this is much appreciated! :)

My house was hit by a lightning strike and it blew out my computer. It looks like both the drives in that computer are readable. So I am wondering how I can get all my email back into thunderbird. It was a pop account. All email was saved to computer. I'm using windows 10. I tried to just copy the old file at Users/Mike/AppData/Roaming but that didn't work. It didn't bring back all of the folders. Please let me know if there's anyway to rebuild all the folders and emails. Thanks in advance for your help. Mike

I use those same settings to send my mail OUT with webmail (which is inconvenient to have to switch all the time), so I know the settings are correct. I have a new windows 10 machine and have a new install of Thunderbird. Hosting email server has 2966 emails that I would like to recover. Started process of downloading them and got to 1895 when it failed with the error message "Unable to write email to mailbox" Check the settings. Tried removing the account and recreating it. Removed the 1895 emails that I have downloaded and got the same result. It seems to be broken some where between Thunderbird and the hosting mailserver as I can login via webmail and see and read the balance of 1071 emails. I get many messages with with unreadable text/background color combinations; near black text on a black background for instance. I searched for an hour on the web and played with themes and settings and couldn't find a way to make all received messages readable.
