best way to block tracking - private mode or VPN addon

I see there are a number of add on's for VPN for Firefox. Would they be better than the private mode already in Firefox? Or would the add on's be more effective about guarding my IP address from tracking by hackers. In addition could a VPN add on allow me to visit web sites in other countries other than the US?

You should always use caution when using a VPN because there are many malicious VPNs on the internet that could make you very vulnerable to hackers.

If you want to find some more information about private browsing in Firefox, please refer to these Mozilla support articles:

In regards to your question about accessing websites from other countries in a VPN, please note that this is illegal in many cases. Accessing a website outside of your designated region violates international law and you could be subject to legal punishment.

Please note that Mozilla does not endorse the use of VPNs or any Firefox features for performing illegal actions.

I think the main form of tracking is through cookies, so managing cookie storage duration and disallowing some third party cookies, and/or using Firefox's tracking protection feature, would be helpful to address that.

To manage cookie settings, check out the Cookie Monster extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/cookie-monster/

There are some legit VPN services which should not raise any legality issues. I used this company many years ago but don't have any recent experience with them: https://www.anonymizer.com/
