If you close a window with several tabs and there is a window with single tab still open maybe something that was automatically opened and you forgot to close the single tab Firefox window before the multiple tab one. Next time you open Firefox opened the single tab windowis opened not the multiple tab one you wanted to keep. Firefox should disregard all single tab windows if a multiple tab window have been used as start page before. This question is for Firefox developer not user forum, a Firefox user cannot provide any help fregarding this problem.

There is a option for that and you have probably un checked it. It warns when closing multiple tabs or windows.

Reactivate the warning.

Type about:config<enter> in the address bar. If a warning screen comes up, press the Be Careful button. At the top of the screen is a search bar. Copy/Paste or Type browser.tabs.warnOnClose in to the top search bar of the page and then when see it set it to true.

Can also try from the 3 Bar Menu Restore Previous Session.

Use one of these to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar to make sure you aren't surprised by multiple windows.

  • "3-bar" menu button -> Exit (Power button)
  • Windows: File -> Exit
  • Mac: Firefox -> Quit Firefox
  • Linux: File -> Quit

If you notice in time then reopen the accidentally closed window.

Thank you for the reply, how do you reopen an accidentally closed window, this is unknown to me, and probably the majority of Firefox users.

Maybe would be best if have not enabled it to put mouse up to top of browser in a empty spot and Right Click and put a tick in Menu Bar

If have or just did Go to History and see if can spot the URL name there. Also Recently Closed Restore Previous Session

So a bunch of commands all in one place and visible/

You can do that via the History menu, either on the menu bar or via the history toolbar button that you can find in the Customize palette and drag to a toolbar for easy access.

  • you can tap the Alt key or press the F10 key to show the hidden Menu Bar temporarily
  • History -> Recently Closed Tabs/Windows

It should not be necessary with a workaround to solve this, it should just not happen. This is like when a programmer want his user to act like he/she was a computer. This is just a stupid programming bug in the user interface. The latest version of Firefox was supposed to be better than all the previous versions, every one had the same stupid error. It should not be needed that the user have to a very experienced user, using workarounds all the time.
