I have version 4.42.0.0. of Thunder Bird under Windows 10, and no solution under send or receive solves the problems. The first problem considered was reinserting the Tool Bar with SEND in it. Firstly, the ALT key did not bring it back; also upon examination, the Menu Bar was nor found under the Composition Tool Bar. I have not examined all the options as mentioned under, Cannot Send Messages, article as of yet, but plan to do so shortly. Will let you know.

Let's sort this out. The Alt key reveals hidden Menu Bars. The Menu Bar is a universal software toolbar with File-Edit-View etc on it and is sure not under the Composition Toolbar. It is used to turn missing toolbars on.

Open a Write window Press the Alt key if your menu bar is hidden From the Menu Bar select View-Toolbars and turn the Composition Toolbar back on. I would check the menu bar while there also so it displays all the time.

Thank you for your reply. I do not find that description of the solution reveals how 'Write-Send' under Thunderbird appears to work under version 4.42. (1)Pressing the ALT does not directly open a list of options; all it does is to highlight the first option on the write menu or FILE. (2)The user must then move the highlight by the use of the keyboards arrow keys to cover TOOLS option on the same TOOL Bar. Their is nothing as like a VIEW-TOOLS option. Having come this far, opening the TOOLS option on the same Menu, will reveal a list of possible areas which THUNDERBIRD can perform in it and all one has to do is to make sure the desired one is properly checked off or turned on.

Having typed up a rather lengthy response, I feel that explanations should have been given to the first instance of the issue. Thanks,

Well if File is already displayed, your menu bar is not hidden so you would skip that step.

Is there any good reason you are using such an old version? Thunderbird is up to version 52.6. Not many people, myself included, are going to remember the menus for version 4.
