I noticed this morning that my Thunderbird tree no longer had a Junk folder. I restarted the program and Junk appeared, with stuff in it, but right-clicking the Junk folder no longer brings up the usual list of options, including Empty Junk. Instead, right-clicking seems to temporarily slow-down or 'hang' Thunderbird, a condition it does recover from in 10 seconds or so. I can open the Junk folder, select all messages and delete them, but something isn't right. Any ideas, anyone?

Update: Realized I didn't mention the version I was running, it was 133.0.3, under Windows 10, but when I opened Help to find this I was invited to do an update... so I did. When the 'update' was complete, I checked and am now running 128.6.0esr (64-bit). That seems strange. Oh, the same Junk problem persists under the 'new' version.

Update #2: Evidently the drop-down menu does eventually appear, if you just wait for it... anywhere from 5 seconds to 30 seconds or so. Normally the right-click is instantaneous. What could have happened, I wonder?

Please, I need help. Bear with me while I describe the problem.

Let's say I have two email accounts set up, user1 and user2. Each one has been set up for quite some time and both have worked as expected for years. If I send an email from user1 a copy of the message drops in the sent folder of user1 and the reply comes back to user1, and if I send an email from user2 a copy of the message drops in the sent folder of user2 and the reply comes back to user2. Not any longer.

Now, if I send an email from user1, a copy of the message drops in the sent folder of user1 and the copy clearly says it was sent from user1's email. However, the reply comes back to user2's email inbox. The source of the message clearly shows it was sent TO: user2, Delivered-To: user2, Received: from line says it is for <user2>.

This has been going on since the latter part of last year.

I am using Thunderbird to migrate mailfolders from an old email account to my new Gmail accout.

I connected both email accounts to Thunderbird by IMAP. That was a piece of cake. All the folders from my old account synced rapidly with Thunderbird.

Then I started copying (in Thunderbird) email folders from my old account to my Gmail account. But that turned out to be a major problem. In the activity window I can see that the copy speed is in the order of more than 1 second per (simple) email.

What can be the problem?

I've donated in the past, but if you want to keep alive why not charge a yearly fee? You say less than 3% donate anyway ... So most of users are on a free hike. That's ridicilous. Don't complain if you can't survive. I've used Thunderbird & Firefox for years, & I'm a tremendous fan. But I think it's time to charge users now.

I'm experiencing a recurring issue with Thunderbird. After running for a few minutes, it freezes and displays "Not Responding." The only way to fix it is to close the program and restart it, but the issue happens again after a short while.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

   Updated to the latest version.
Tested in Safe Mode (issue persists).
Disabled antivirus (Bitdefender) to rule out interference.
   Cleared startup cache.
Reinstalled Thunderbird and restored profiles manually.

Reinstalling solved the issue temporarily, and Thunderbird stopped freezing. However, the problem returned after I imported all my email accounts!!!

I’d appreciate any guidance on how to resolve this!

Thanks in advance!

Your support document says to open the Address Book then Select File>New>Mailing List. When I try to do this after selecting File>New Mailing List does not come up as an option. Is there another way to build my lists? Thanks

I was not able to use the "transfer profiles" feature when I upgraded from a Windows 10 to Windows 11 machine. I think I might have made a mistake..... On the old machine, it seemed like the email was always there when I opened the program. On the new machine, it looks like it downloads all the email every time I open the program. I can't find the setting I might have set up wrong.

A few days ago my Thunderbird client was downloading messages. I could not see the email that was to be downloaded next. However, a notice appeared, apparently from a hacker that was ending the next email. It was asking me to let it override some information that allowed me to get messages. Then a popup from Thunderbird displayed. It said no decent public site would ask to override anything. So I clicked CANCEL. This happened repeatedly. I kept clicking CANCEL. But no emails downloaded, only the message. Then I got help from the Dell tech support that I paid for when buying the computer. It has always been very effective fixing problems, even if they were not with the computer itself. They could not fix the problem. I can see and answer my emails on Primus webmail. Now. no more emails download in the Thunderbird client after. So apparently some setting has been overridden. I got in touch with Primus, and they told me what to reset the port to, but nothing has been downloaded. I am able to send emails from the Thunderbird client. They told me that the server connection (IMAP) was the same port for send and receive. When I click Get Messages in the Thunderbird client, it says something like Checking server availability. But no new emails download. I have read this from Thunderbird:

"To manually configure an account, you will need to have the following details which can be supplied by your email provider. incoming mail server and port (for example, "pop.example.com" and port 110 or "imap.example.com" and port 143) outgoing mail server and port (for example, "smtp.example.com" and port 25) security setting for the connection with the server (for example, "STARTTLS" or "SSL/TLS" and whether or not to use secure authentication) First, open the Account Settings: In the Thunderbird menu bar, click the ToolsEdit menu and select Account Settings, or click the Application menu button and select OptionsPreferences and Account Settings from the sub-menu." I have tried all this to no avail.

What can I do to get email to download to the Thunderbird client? Can I uninstall the Thunderbird and reinstall without disturbing my Webmail? I would be happy for any help you can give me! Thanks!
