I have 128.5.2esr (64-bit) on two different machines.

Both have been experiencing LONG delays sending emails, where the error message is that the email was sent but it couldn't be stored in the sent folder. I have followed instructions to repair that folder but that hasn't had any effect.

This morning this happened again, this time it wouldn't store in either sent or drafts folders. I ran disk checking with no errors reported and no other programs are showing any problems. There is plenty of free disk space, I am only using 407 MB of a 4 TB drive.

I noticed slowness opening a message so went in and did a repair on my inbox. All messages disappeared. Quit TB and restarted, same, no messages. So I did a repair again. The messages reappeared, but most are empty! I don't keep many messages in my inbox, just really critical ones, and now they are all gone.

New emails display correctly.

How can I recover these messages? Some are actually really critical and would take some work to locate as I receive an intense amount of emails and some of the critical ones are months old so would take an enormous amount of time to find in the gmail system.

Please help with suggestions, not only on this but in having TB work without these recurring problems.

I am new to TB and have spent about six hours trying to delete gmails in both POP and IMAP formats only to have them reappear multiple times a day. I am using the Unified Folders option too.

TB, on Windows 11, appears to operate normally retrieving gmail every 15 minutes. I also have TB beta installed on my Andriod phone, it appears to operate normally as well.

On Windows 11, I go to the email account and delete the emails, empty the spam and trash folders....then I compact those same folders and the main email folder as well.

After a several times a day the 75 or so emails reappear in the inbox. I've only been using TB one day.

I have to have done something wrong? No software behaves like this on purpose.

It there a torture the user check box I didn't uncheck somewhere? I am at my wits end.

Please help me understand and resolve this behavior?

I can send e-mail through Thunderbird on my laptop but can not receive e-mail. I have checked all of my settings and nothing seems to fix the problem. I am receiving e-mail for that account on other devices on which I do not use Thunderbird. Any suggestions?

When I was using Outlook in the old days, ie before it was 365, I used to take a copy of my OST file and save it as an annual archive, then delete all the folders or contents from my existing, live OST file that I didn't need anymore.

How do I achieve the same with Thunderbird?

I have a few email accounts, so Thunderbird is an ideal client to bring them all together. I have used my Yahoo account with Thunderbird for years now, possibly approaching 20 years, with no problem. However, during the last couple of months I have had problems with the connection such that Thunderbird stalls while accessing Yahoo and I see "Thunderbird not responding". I may even get a "Server has disconnected" message. If I get the latter, then suddenly the situation resolves and the email messages are downloaded. Otherwise, it is just a matter of waiting a couple of minutes until it clears, but it was always instantaneous in the past. Occasionally, I will also get delays when trying to send an email, but generally it is with downloading. Nothing else has changed. The only other change in the past few months has been the verification method for hotmail/live addresses which was not a problem.

Any thoughts? Peter

Hi Happy New Year I have installed Thunderbird and web translate, but I miss the method like in Outlook where I could right click and have the email translated. In web translate I have to copy the text and have it translated. Is there another method that can make it easier. I also think it is a cumbersome way to add web translate before it is at the top and can be used in Thunderbird. Bruno

After starting the PC and launching Thunderbird, a connection to the server is established and the mails are also displayed in the inbox. With every further attempt, whether automatic or manual after starting Thunderbird, no mail is displayed in the taskbar at the bottom. I have switched off Norton 360 and also NordVPN but the problem persists. It also doesn't work when I close and reopen Thunderbird, I need to restart the PC and then it only works once again.

Today I am trying to send an email with a file attachment that has the extension .exe I've never had this problem before and I am trying to figure out why. When I first turned on my computer this morning (Jan 1) I got a message about an application not able to start - it was Norton. I resolved that - I hope - but the file I was trying to send unsuccessfully was also flagged by Norton when I copied it from one computer to another here. Does Thunderbird interact with Norton in this way? Or do you think maybe the web site that I use for my email service might be responsible..I will ask them this same question also. I know you can't speak for anybody but Thunderbird, I am just trying to narrow this down. Well, happy new year............. Thanks everyone!
