I can no longer type into the Google Search Bar in Firefox ONLY. I've removed the Proxy setting and cleared my cache but the issue remains. Clicking any key reverts to the web search bar at the top. Google is my default search engine.

As soon as I choose Firefox, the home page showing my bookmarks and more, the Google search bar on the middle of the page won't accept anything.

Is this termed the Tab Page?

You can set this pref to false in about:config to disable switching to the address bar for searching via search bar on the Firefox Home page.

  • about:config => browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar => false

You can open about:config via the location/address bar. On the warning page, click "Accept the Risk and Continue" to open about:config.
