Somewhere along the line, i lost the ability to open my Error Console and my Download prompts. I have tried deleting my profile data and dumping the application, reinstalling but it still doesn't work. I tried installing Firefox 6 beta and got the error console to open, but only sometimes.

Say, how often shoould i need to do this? Im finding that i have to remove this file EVERYTIME i open firefox in order to get this to work correctly.

It shouldn't be necessary to delete that file every time.

Maybe try a new profile if the current profile isn't working properly.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile:

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

Thank you Cor-el for your continued assistance. What should I do if it doesn't solve the problem?

If you have problems with the current Firefox profile then try a new profile.

Cor-el,

Maybe i should have been more clear. Your last two posts did not resolve the issue. What else might you suggest?

So you still have the problem in a new profile, but it always works if you delete localstore.rdf?

Try to remove the Firefox plist file (org.mozilla.firefox.plist).

Go to "Library > Preferences" and remove the plist file for Firefox (org.mozilla.firefox.plist).

Try to repair the disk permissions:

Yea, it seems to work every time i delete the localstore.rdf file. Deleting the plist file didn't seem to do anything noticeable. However, in playing around with this issue some more, I noticed that if i move my firefox browser to my secondary monitor, Quit, then reopen, the Error Console and Downloads prompts do not appear when requested. However, if i move the browser window to iMac screen, Quit, reopen, and try to request these prompts, they appear. After they appear, if i close them, move the browser window to the secondary monitor and try to request these prompts, they do not appear. The prompts will not appear until the browser is Quit and loaded and stays on the iMac screen.

Is this a bug in the software? I am able to replicate this on different imacs with a monitor connected.

Are you using a setup with more than one monitor?

I've seen more reports that there are problems with opening another window like the Error Console or the Download Manager doesn't work if Firefox is opened on the second monitor.
