I have a User ID for my CitiCard account that I cannot change in FireFox. In addition to changing the User ID I have also followed a process in CitiCard to 'Clear a User ID' however, when I follow it the old User ID still remains populated. I can 'work around' this glitch by simply choosing 'Use a different ID' from the drop down menu. It's not an obstacle to accessing the account - just a 'minor inconvenience' - added step, if you will!

When using FireFox the User ID box in the CitiCard account remains populated with my previous User ID and when I try to use my new - or old password with it - it is rejected. So as I previously indicated I simply have to select 'Use a different ID' and enter the 'new' User ID, enter my 'new' password and I'm in. Additionally when I go into Explorer all of the changes have occurred correctly.

Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop down list:

  1. Click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop down list
  2. Highlight an entry in the drop down list
  3. Press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.

Sorry cor-el, but your tip simply isn't applicable. The User ID is auto filled with a ID that I have changed from twice since using. (The 'Remember My ID' is not activated. You cannot simply delete an entry. There are three options in the User ID DropDown Box; 1) The ID that is populated. 2) Use Different ID. 3) Clear ID. I can get into the account by using the 'different ID' option. There is a process to 'clear the ID' on the website and I have done that a number of times. I have changed the ID 3 times after going to the account - but the original stays the same in FireFox. I can open the same website in Explorer and all is well. It is obvious that this website and FireFox aren't talking! Note.... This is not occuring on any other website where User ID and Password are required!

You can try to remove the cookies from that site in case that data is stored in one of them.

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
