Did you try to disable hardware acceleration?

You can also check for problems with plugins.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

then you can try to manually trigger the creation of a new profile:

press the windows key + r and open %appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox. a windows explorer window should pop up, in there rename the file named profiles.ini into something like oldprofiles.ini and try launching firefox again.

please also do a full scan of your system with your security software already in place and/or a different tool like the free version of malwarebytes.
