Win 7(x64) Pro. Firefox 20. When I attempt to close Firefox a dialog box pops: "If you cancel now 3 downloads will be cancelled. Are you sure you want to exit?" However, when I click the "Show all downloads" icon the resulting page shows no downloads listed.

Are you in Private Browsing mode?

Check that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode.

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"

Try to delete the downloads.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

The "Always use private browsing mode" was not selected.

After posting the question I was ready to shutdown for the night so I choose the "cancel downloads" button, and then Firefox closed normally.

Today I did several downloads trying to replicate the problem under different scenarios but could not get it to repeat. If it happens again I will try the profile folder method you suggested.

Thanks (once again) for your help and easy to understand instructions.
