add/remove s/w fails to install thunderbird on raspberry-pi raspbian

I had no problem with raspbian & thunderbird when i used noobs to install raspbian, but in this case i downloaded a raspbian image. so far the only hitch is installing thunderbird. i have not tried to install firefox. i played around with downloading a .deb which seemed to work but then it disappeared!

one more thing, I did remove mathematica which also took out wolfram, and wonder if this removed key dependencies or something...

solved this myself, a newbie situation!

using "Add/Remove software" I overlooked "Refresh Package List", I started fresh from the raspbian image today and that solved it...
