After update to FF 59.0 (64 bit) (OS - Win7 Ultimate) no passwords are saved and "Key" icon is missing. All settings in FF are correct: not using Private Browsing; Options>Privacy & Security>Remember logins and passwords for websites is checked; there are no "exceptions" (list is empty), etc. Even previously saved logins that are listed DO NOT AUTO FILL anymore! BitDefender is disabled to make sure no issues with AV software. See screen shot attached showing NO KEY ICON (for ANY website/URL)!

I think the 'key' icon is from an add-on that is not compatible with your FF.

Your screenshot did not make it. Please try again.

Is the problem with many websites, some, a few?

Are you using any password add-ons, programs?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Hi FredMcD... All websites/URLs have same issue - not a single one work with regard to noted issue(s). The only program/add-on I am using that have any password functionality is BitDefender AV - which I first disabled all password related functions on (no help), then disabled the entire program (same result). The screenshot simply showed the URL in Firefox (at top of screen) without the key icon. Weird thing is that all the missing functionality - including now missing Key icon AND now pissing password/login saving & retrieving from stored pwords/logins, etc. WAS working until recently.

Thanks for taking the time to respond - most appreciated my friend.

Also... the key icon is a Firefox function - how could it be "missing from Firefox"?

Do you see any items in the Password Manager?

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security: Logins: "Saved Logins" -> "Show Passwords"

It is possible that there are problems with logins.json and key4.db that store the passwords in Firefox 58+. You can check if you have logins.json.corrupt and key3.db in case something wend wrong with the migration from key3.db to key4.db (encryption key and master password).

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
