Parts of pdf are displaying incorrectly in built-in Firefox viewer (pdf.js)

When I navigate to an online pdf using the built-in Firefox viewer (pdf.js), the pdf displays incorrectly. If I then download the same pdf and open locally using MacOS Preview or Adobe Acrobat, the pdf displays correctly. Equally, if I open the hyperlink to the pdf using another browser (e.g. Chrome or Safari), it displays correctly.

This is the link to the pdf.

A good example of the problem is page 7 in the pdf. Compare how the page appears in the built-in viewer on Firefox (mostly blank) with how it appears in another browser or locally in a PDF viewer (not blank! an engraving of a building).

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

hello ssbowyer,

Go to setting (3 bars) > options > applications. Under applications panel. Find Portable Document Format (PDF) in the list and click on it to select it. Click on the drop-down arrow in the Action column for the above entry and select Use PDF reader name (in Firefox) or preview in firefox.

tell me its helps.

Thank you!

There are known compatibility issues with pdf.js, that project was never completed and I doubt if it will ever be a "finished product". My own experience is that it works like 90% of the time and issues are connected to specific websites and the proggie used to create the PDF files that the site sends out.

The alternative is to use an external PDF reader application; I don't use Mac OSX so I don't know what is available to you as the alternative.

See if this helps you:

Hi Arman, thanks for your reply. By setting a different PDF viewer (other than the in-built viewer in Firefox), the PDF will display correctly. However, I was interested if anyone knew of a fix so that the in-built viewer will display the PDF correctly.
