I want to change background color in Firefox from white to gray (because my eyes get tired of white)

I try to change it this way: Preferences -> Language and appearance -> Font -> Colors

But it does not work as expected on some complex web sites. All I want to do is to darken the background, but not to change color of other elenments (links, text, scrollbars).

Can I do it in Firefox ? How [Preferences -> Language and appearance -> Font -> Colors] works in Firefox? Perhaps, there is some "override css" for the entire browser?

After some investigation I figured out the problem. Firefox can change bachground color of the page (browser.display.document_color_use = 2) , but in that case in changes links color to browser.anchor_color. But I don't want to change links color ! Only to darken the background a little!

Firefox developers, PLEASE HELP!!!

Hey, You can try using https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/photon-colors/. I am using it for some time now and it is quite similar to the previous theme.

No, I don't want to change Firefox UI color! I want to change background color of the web page itself. On the screenshot the web page background is white still.

I use an add-on Page Shadow: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/page-shadow/

I also use a bookmarklet "zap white backgrounds".

I know of no way of getting help from developers. The preferences don't seem to help. browser.display.background_color browser.display.foreground_color
