I am having issues with opening link for external applications. The application can be What'sApp or Zoom or Slack and when trying to open an external app I get a windows that ask for me to select the application to open the link.. When doing this the only option have I have is System Handler and Choose Application.. Neither option is helpful.. This did not happen with firefox packaged with .deb .. I am assuming that this deal with snap sandbox security.. I later read an article

I did a little reading and came across a link https://ubuntu.com/blog/how-to-snap-introducing-classic-confinement

Which instructed on how to create a snap with --classic confinement.. I am not sure if this will resolve the issue that I am having .. But I didn't find that I could install firefox snap with the --classic option.. I am not that familiar with snaps so I could be completely off but wanted to know if someone could look into it..

I would like to add an image but it doesn't seem like firefox will allow me to on this page. (Browse is not opening a window) Also copy and paste didn't work

Try downloading another copy of Firefox, run it from the folder and see if you have the same issue.

jonzn4SUSE .. I will try this as a workaround later today and respond with results. I also believe it will work.. the issue is that I am trying to use firefox through ubuntu snaps. I believe that the issue deals with the confinement policy on firefox snap.. Which I don't know if I can change or if that is set by the developers making the snap app..

I would also like to say.. Thanks so much for responding to my issue. I really appreciate your response and will try out your suggestions within the next day or two.

You'll have to ask the folks at snap and or ubuntu about that issue. https://forum.snapcraft.io/ https://askubuntu.com/

Hey jonzn4SUSE it seems that publisher (mozilla) need to set the confinement.. I am going to see if I can use the link of the .tar that you sent me and see if I can create my own local snap to see if this resolve my issue.. I will let you know my finding.

I will hopefully return with success. Thanks again

Sounds interesting. If you fix the issue be sure to pass on that info to snap folks.
