Reader View in Firefox helps you strip away clutter like buttons, ads, background images and videos, providing a clean and customizable reading experience. Here’s how to use it:
View a page in Reader View
- If a page is available in Reader View, the Reader View icon will appear in the address bar.
- Click on the Reader View icon ; a blue icon indicates the feature is currently active.

Once in Reader View, you can customize the layout to fit your preferences. Options are available on the left side of the article content:

- Exit: To exit Reader View, simply click the cross button, click the Reader View icon again or use the back button on your browser.
- Text: Adjust the layout (text font and size, content width, line height) and theme (light, sepia, dark) in Reader View.
- Text: Once in Reader View, you can customize the layout to fit your preferences:
- Text Size: Click the or buttons to decrease or increase the text size.
- Font Style: Choose between , and fonts. Adjust the font weight as , or .
- Layout Options: Adjust the content width and line spacing to make the text more comfortable to read.
- Advanced Options: Customize character spacing, word spacing and text alignment.
- Theme: Select between , , , , and backgrounds to change the appearance of the page, or create your custom theme.
- Read aloud: Have Firefox read an article out loud in Reader View.
- This option will show up only if WindowsmacOSLinux has Text-to-speech information in the language that the article is in.
- Save to Pocket: Add a page to Pocket.
