I am using Mac Book Air-latest edition; Lion 10.7.4.

While scrolling either up or down - in any window in the Firefox browser, there is a horizontal line or two that runs across the screen only during the scroll process.

This is only in Firefox. Safari is fine when scrolling and so are all document types.

This could be the result of "smooth scrolling." Could you try disabling it?

Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > General

Uncheck the box for "Use smooth scrolling"

Does that help?

I just disabled the smooth scrolling, but no change in the problem. Thanks!

Could you check in Help > Troubleshooting Information, toward the bottom, there is a section entitled Graphics. If the value for "GPU Accelerated Windows" is greater than zero, you might want to try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.

You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced

On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"

Then restart Firefox and test again. Does that fix it?

I have done the changes, but am still experiencing the distortion!

Nothing else comes to mind, but I understand the MacBook Air is somewhat unique among Macs. Maybe edit your original post subject line to mention MacBook Air?

^_^ Yeeeee!

Ciaooo.
