I have recently been away on holiday (from 26th August to 9th September). While away, I was monitoring my Thunderbird emails from my MacBook Air. When I got back on 9th September, I wanted to download all the emails from 26th August onwards to my iMac desktop but only the last week's emails from 3rd September downloaded so I missed a week's emails. How can I stop this happening when I go away to Australia for 6 weeks next year?

Log into your email account from Firefox or your MacBook Air. If they are still there it should be possible to save them. I don't think they are. My provider only allows 600 megabytes. After it's full the system starts to delete the oldest ones. If they are from people you know they may be able to resend them. To work around this create a Gmail account and "cc" ( carbon copy ) a copy to that account. If I remember right I have about 1000 emails in my Gmail account and I'm still registering 0% full. You can fetch them from there when you get home. You may want to reach out to your provider and ask them what happened. They may help. Also check your settings in TB. I myself have been guilty of moments of insanity. Made and forgotten changes to my system. Or there was a troll under my bed. Post back the results. Good Luck

Can you still see the emails on the server? Are you using IMAP or POP protocol? Do you have a gmail account?

My Broadband provider is Thus (Vodafone). It is a POP Mail server and in the Thunderbird account settings, it is set to leave the messages on the server for at most 60 days. How can I look to see if the messages are still on the server?
