Firefox includes built-in password management which allows you to manage the usernames and passwords you use to log in to websites. This article describes why your logins might not be saved.

Firefox settings for logins and passwords

If you've disabled the autofill feature, Firefox will not fill in your login information. To change this setting:

  1. Click the menu button Fx89menuButton to open the menu panel.
  2. Click Passwords.
    • The Firefox about:logins page will open in a new tab.
  3. Click the Firefox logins menu Three dot menu, then click OptionsPreferences.

Now that you've configured Firefox to remember passwords, try logging in to the site again.

Password Manager software

You may have Password Manager software, maybe as a feature included in security software, that prevents Firefox from storing passwords. Check your Password Manager software settings. For more information, see Where are my logins stored?

Remember Password prompt is not displayed

Some graphics driver versions may have problems to display prompts. To see if this applies to you, follow the steps in Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems.

Websites prohibit password saving

Some websites do not allow for passwords to be saved for security reasons. If you have followed the steps above, but are still not prompted to save a password when logging in to a certain website, that site may have disabled password saving.
