Java is installed but plugin is not showing in Firefox plugins

more options

I was trying to watch a training movie but it said that Java was disabled. I then went to Java.com to install it which it did. However, when I try it in Firefox it still does not work. I then went to Tools in Firefox >>Plugins but Java does not appear in the list.

In IE 9.0, the movie runs which leads me to believe it is finding Java.

Why won't it work in Firefox?

Are you sure that the error message isn't about JavaScript?

To avoid confusion: http://kb.mozillazine.org/JavaScript_is_not_Java

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

I found that uninstalling Java, using the Windows control panel, and then reinstalling it using the Firefox browser instead of the IE browser got it working for both browsers.
