That history list opens if you hold down the mouse button for too long on the B/F buttons, so try to click the button for a shorter time.

cor-el, this is a duplicate of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/916601.

I gave essentially the same advice which did result in going back but still producing a list. I also suggested updating to Fx10.

This was being buried very quickly and has led to this follow-up.

thanks alan....no matter how lightly i click i get the back page and the history....is Fx10 good in all the other ways one counts on when their a tad old and likes their world to remain constant?

thanks

I've had no trouble with Fx10 but then I never have problems despite over 30 extensions and a non-default theme. Strongly suggest you keep up-to-date. Avoiding third party toolbars is the best advice I can give to Firefox users, and drop anything that can't keep pace with Firefox.

With a bit of luck cor-el will come by with the real answer.

You are left clicking the Back button?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
