Desk top

I had three items saved on my desk top and I by mistake closed Firefox and lost the items on my desktop. Is there a way to retrieve those three items?

I have a new computer, and had information and web sites transferred from my old computer to the new computer. Now when I try to open a web site, a get a warning stating "do you want to open this file". These are not new sites, but ones from my old computer, and they are safe!!

How do I stop this warning pop up?

Thank you Allan

Hi!

Like the title says, is it normal to call upon the updater.exe under "C:\program files\mozilla firefox" if an automatic update fails to install?

Just went on a limb here and assumed that this was the case, the update log said it failed to apply:

Firefox 132.0.2 (20241110231641) Installed on: 13 November 2024 at 18:52:59 Status: The Update could not be installed (patch apply failed)

Current version running: 132.0.2 (64-bit), so I assume that the UAC prompt was a fail-safe of some kind?

Best regards, Kristoffer N

Hi all, I am using Firefox 132.0.2 aarch64 on my MacBook Pro M2 with Sequia 15.1. Since a few days, I cannot connect to any of my services in my local network. My MacBook has the ip 192.168.10.86, and I cannot connect with Firefox to an address in the subnet 192.168.10. or to any other directly connected (e.g. virtualized) services like a web server running on 192.168.66.4 with a virtual Nic (via UTM) 192.168.10.1

Unfortunately, every other app on my Mac is able to connect these services, via terminal, Safari browser or with the brave browser. It is irrelevant if I use local names (either via a local dns-server or via /etc/hosts) or if I use the ip as the intended target.

What have I done so far: Re-installed Firefox Started with a clean profile Started with private mode Nothing helps

I started the logging (when I tried to connect to my router 192.168.10.1), here is some of the output, which makes no sense to me: 2024-11-13 16:54:26.870426 UTC - [Parent 63592: Socket Thread]: V/nsHttp FindCoalescableConnection(..........[tlsflags0x00000000]192.168.10.1:80^partitionKey=%28http%2C192.168.10.1%29) no matching conn honestly, I have no idea, what a correct line would look like.

At the end, I captured the traffic with Wireshark. Here it is getting tricky: I see the successful dns-connection, but there is absolutely no request to the http(s) port to the intended system. If I use a vpn back to my home net, everything works fine. But if I am "correctly" connected, no connection is established. I tried to change some of the network parameters with about:config, but either did not hit the right one or it does not help.

Even if I use a proxy system in my local net and use it in Firefox, there is no successful connection to this local system, if I try to connect with Safari, it works like charm.

So, does anybody of you have a good idea where to look or check internal details of Firefox? If you need further information or something I should check, please let me know.

Best regards Ulf

I have this really minor inconvenience because of gmail changing their link from gmail.com to mail.google.com. Typing in "gmail.com" still works and it redirects to the new link, but the autocomplete function doesn't see it as a legitimate link, and doesn't save it, so I end up searching "g" most of the time when I want to access my mail. My question is this: Is there any way/add-on that would allow me to add a custom autocomplete query so that I could just type "g" and access my mail?

Thanks for any help in advance.

On firefox, pop ups persistently appear in the top right at random times saying to update firefox, and sometimes pop ups in the lower left when browsing like today offered bing extension this morning. Pop ups FROM FIREFOX ITSELF are absurd annoying and unacceptable. How can I set it to ABSOLUTELY NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE pop up a message or notification of any kind?

Hi everyone! 👋

I hope you’re all enjoying browsing with Firefox. I’ve been using it for a while now, and it’s incredible how many cool features and settings are available to make browsing safer, faster, and more enjoyable. I thought it would be great to share our favorite tips and tricks with each other!

Here are a few of my favorites to kick things off:

Boost Privacy with Enhanced Tracking Protection 🔒 Did you know Firefox has a built-in feature to protect your privacy? Under "Privacy & Security" in the settings, you can turn on Enhanced Tracking Protection, which blocks third-party trackers and unwanted cookies. It’s a quick setting that gives extra peace of mind!

Organize Tabs with Simple Shortcuts 📑 I’m always juggling multiple tabs, so using keyboard shortcuts has been a lifesaver! Try pressing Ctrl + Shift + E (or Cmd + Shift + E on a Mac) to get a quick overview of all open tabs. You can then jump between them effortlessly.

Get Faster Browsing with Pocket Integration 🧳 Ever see a cool article but don’t have time to read it? Just save it to Pocket, which is integrated with Firefox! It’s perfect for building a collection of things to read later, even offline.

What are your go-to Firefox hacks? I’d love to learn how others are using Firefox to make their browsing even better. Whether it's an add-on you love, a keyboard shortcut, or a cool setting, please share below!

Happy browsing,

so I am trying to de-google and moved from Windows to MAC. BUT, none of my auto text shortcuts work, my email isn't being populated in fields where it should be (I don't save passwords in FF, I use bitwarden).

Spell check doesn't seem to work either, all of these DO work on Chrome :(

Any ideas, I tried to turn on a setting I read on some old post (9 years ago) about the following setting but it didn't work.

widget.macos.automatic.text_replacement=true

I take a lot of screenshots using Firefox's built in screenshot tool to share with my friends. After a while it slows down my Photos folder and I move them elsewhere. However, I cannot move, delete, or even rename any of the 18 photos shown in the photo below. They are all from Twitter/X, but this error does not apply to every screenshot from Twitter - I was able to move or delete most of them. However, it is ONLY happening with photos from Twitter. They are not Read Only so I don't know what the issue is. I'm not having this issue with Windows Snip tool, only Firefox Screenshots.

It appears that Mozilla does not intend to fix this version to be used under Windows 7. It continually and suddenly shows the Firefox version of the BSOD with GAH! at the top. I am in a difficult spot whereby I have several legacy programs I use in my business that do not work correctly under Window 10 or higher. I have tried Opera which is a solution other than it doesn't support an extension on Windows 7 for a mainstream program I use all the time. Please advise when you will get this bug fixed. At least provide older versions of Firefox when it used to work correctly.
