Firefox is blocked by some websites, saying it is a bot, have you had this happen?

You have been blocked. Why? Something about the behaviour of the browser has caught our attention.

There are various possible explanations for this:

You are browsing and clicking at a speed much faster than expected of a human being.
Something is preventing JavaScript from working on your computer.
There is a robot on the same network (IP XXX.XX.X.XXX) as you.

Hello,

My Websocket server recently started failing in Firefox. After some investigation it looks like the issues began in v130. The Websocker server works in all other browsers and in Firefox version <= 129. After much troubleshooting it seems like a change was made to the TLS negotiation when making a Websocket connection. I was able to temporarily solve the problem by forcing TLSv1.2 instead of negotiating the strongest TLS available. Was there a recent change to how TLS is negotiated when making a wss Websocket connection?

A few months ago, I noticed that Firefox has become very slow. When I looked at my task manager a minute ago, it showed 2,500 MB of memory usage and very high power demand after I had opened only three websites plus yours. I took the computer - a desktop using Windows 10 - to a technician who took $140 to tell me that he "cleaned it up and everything should be faster now." It is not any better for it.

How can I get my computer to work in Firefox as well as it does in Edge?

Thank you, Barry

A 'noisy' tab is preventing auto-sleep ('powercfg /requests' shows audio activity), Firefox doesn't ID which tabs have active audio. Searching for help only provides useless information, instructing me to click a non-existent button: "Visit the tab tray by tapping the number next to the address bar". I have no such button, only a 'taggle reader view' button.

During what I assume are high bitrate sections of YouTube videos (e.g. lots of movement, high resolution) YouTube will constantly drop frames.

Video for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLuTLF3x9sA

I have tried: • Safe Mode • Installing the Flatpak and testing in that, which also has a fresh profile as I don't use the Flatpak version • Testing different related about:config settings – I can't remember them all now, but I tested every one I found googling that is related to the issue or hardware acceleration.

Hardware acceleration is for sure working. Turning it off makes the video drop to one or two FPS.

Chromium has no problem with the same video. However, you can see from the screenshots that both read the resolution/scaling of my screen differently, and it implies that Firefox is rendering something like 6314 x 3552 while Chromium is rendering at UHD, the resolution of the screen and my video. If I turn off all my Global Scaling, Firefox stops dropping frames (the same info box on YouTube states resolution is UHD), reinforcing my theory about scaling being the issue. Both are confirmed to be using native Wayland.

I have 132.0.1 on windows 11. It is seriously messed up. For youtube videos, I get a blank video screen, and other parts of the web page don't get loaded (gifs/other jpegs, for starters). Gmail leads to a 400 error - with google saying it doesn't know why. Some of the fonts, in some headlings, are nothing I have seen before, in some web pages. Some html formatting is totally bonkers. Reddit, wellsfargo as examples, where you will see the elements in what looks like a text-based document, and nothing can be selected that otherwise would be selectable. Some of my bank urls just have spinning behavior that never times out.

All the foregoing works fine on Edge. And yes, I have restarted the browser many times, restarted the computer many times, even restarted the router. I have not messed with preferences for quite some time. javascript is enabled.

I might have seen some of this in the previous update, 131.x.

Oh, under Performance I do NOT see a possible selection for hardware acceleration. So that's out.

I have a lenovo ThinkPad, with AMD cpu, a few years old, with Windows 11 pro.

I have used firefox for years working on at this point over a dozen computers, and I have never seen anything like this, and so much going wrong at one time.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance

But perhaps a different kind of problem, like "Passwords and login".

This has started a few months ago, after an update. I would go to a website, fill in my credential, and then NOTHING. No error message, no movement. There are now several websites where this happens (see below). On some I could fix the problem by putting the website on the ALLOW list of Malwarebytes Browser Guard, but not all. On some, it was enough to allow ads and tackers, on others I had to also allow scams and malware, but on some nothing helps. All of them work perfectly well in Chrome, where I did nothing to BrowserGuard.

The websites fixed:

rebel.ca wise.com

Not fixed:

https://www.bc.mycarecompass.lifelabs.com https://www.concourstdaeroplan.td.com/

Any ideas on what is going on? And how to fix things? Thanks

Hi, whenever i open the instagram web's reels tab and start scrolling down a bit the audio breaks down, crackling/buzzing. ive contacted razer's support and then i tried the website on 2 different websites and it worked fine there and razer support told me that the issue isnt with my device but with mozilla. i thought it was because of my headphones at first as i tried it on 2 different computer, one being a desktop and other being laptop and only when i use instagram web's reels tab on mozilla. once i use it every other audio breaks down too including games/other browsers etc. . i tried to contact with meta support too but comes out they dont offer a support to those who dont have paid subscription and the issue only happens on mozilla firefox application

I don't know how to put it into words that well, but, it's as if my Firefox is just a clickable picture. If I try to use the search engine, it won't let me search, just put words in. If I try to open the menu, I can't, I can only click on the three lines with no pop-up. I can't use my addons, I can't even open another tab. I've tried opening other windows, restarting my computer, leaving it off for a while, and letting it stay on for hours, but it still isn't working. I tried running the updater, but It won't run. I tried running the maintenance service, same outcome. I don't want to delete Firefox because I fear that my account didn't probably sync some important things. I don't know what to do, this all happened after an update. Here's a video of what's going on: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PBpoHDn29gUp2mCK8I38V4oPwsXRwL0r/view?usp=sharing

I switched to using Firefox about six weeks ago, from Chrome. At first, it all worked perfectly. Now, I have a 100% reproducable problem: YouTube "short" videos never play. It will display the video player in the proper aspect ratio, and displays the overlayed text from the video's thumbnail and other meta data, but the actual playing of the video fails with a message typically like:

An error occurred. Please try again later. (Playback ID: C8SVj-KCLVM2m_DW)

Windows 11, current patched. on serious Core I9 system with 32 GB of ram, fast video card, etc.

Regular YouTube videos display perfectly. Using Google Chrome browser works perfectly.

The help message talks about clearing cache, but I can't seem to find that. I can see how to delete site-specific cookies and data. I really don't want to clear all cookies for all sites.

I've had an issue on my Mac Mini since (I think) I bought it ~1.5 years ago. Firefox essentially stops responding randomly. When it happens, I can usually still scroll through the page, but I'm unable to click on any links on it. Other things like hovering over things that might change color also stops working. When it happens, it happens to all tabs that are open. It usually eventually comes back on it's own after a couple minutes. The weird thing is as soon as I load any other external application, even something as simple as Settings or Preview, Firefox will immediately spring back to life. Only a couple common addons (Ublock Origin) but it happens even with all add-ons disabled. It's sporadic, sometimes I can go all day without it happening, other times it happens every few minutes.

It's persisted through 3 different OS upgrades and countless Firefox versions. I've tried everything I can find about troubleshooting Firefox on mac and nothing works. It's not a resource thing as it happens with only Gmail open sometimes and Firefox being the only thing running. I'm at a loss and looking for anything that might help. I've never seen this issue on other Macs I've used Firefox with.
