I just noticed this line: "Multiprocess Windows: 0/1 (Disabled by accessibility tools)" I don't remember specifically doing anything regarding "accessibility." Is this referring to tools within Firefox or Windows itself? :-?

Just to follow up.

After seeing the statement regarding multi-process being disabled via accessibility tools, I found that the option for "Show a touch keyboard when necessary" had somehow been selected. I know I never wanted to select it, so it was either an accident on my part or maybe an add-on? Either way, deselecting it did not allow for the multi-process option to return. Even after a restart.

I moved over to Cyberfox for a while earlier this week since the multi-process flag really helps the performance of the browser on the older laptop I use. (i5 430m) Was thinking that if I reset Firefox Dev Edition back to defaults it would probably fix the problem but wouldn't tell me what the problem was.

I loaded the dev edition up yesterday to find that the multi-process flag was available and checked. I hadn't made any changes except for updating the browser with the daily security update. I'm happy but confused. Also noticed that for some reason the dev edition was not remembering my login credentials. Found today that the browser was set to not remember cookies, but I couldn't change that since it was also set to always use private browsing. I have no idea how these flags changed, I was able to change the privacy and cookie settings.

So far things are running good again. Unfortunately I am unable to explain why.

thanks for following up & sorry, i lost track of your answers. you can also disable accessibility functions/detection in firefox like this (as they currently cause bugs with e10s): enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named accessibility.force_disabled. double-click it and change its value to 1.
