no sound when using youtube. itunes play just fine

See the entire article but start with "No Sound in Firefox" bring
that part about the "sound mixer" is written for Windows, wouldn't know how well that might relate to a Mac but in Windows each application has some control to provide less sound than the main control or to be muted.
