AVG says that "Object name";"C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\g0epg4ph.default\cookies.sqlite:\liveperson.net.8db0737c"

is a potentially dangerous object, but when I try to delete it, I'm told that forced removal could cause instability or crash the system What to do?

Ok. Interesting to know, and puzzling, too. But then, most computer things are puzzling to me! many thanks. I'm checking the 'solved it' button. Have a good day.

clear cookies in firefox - you can specifically filter for that liveperson[dot]net site and delete that one cookie. afterwards scan your system with avg again

Ok, I get that, BUT will it cause instability or crash the system? that would not be good...

Is the cookie worse than the solution? I have three altogether with that warning--all the rest AVG deals with, but these three it leaves alone. That means they are different....so is it ok to take them out? Two are the liveperson type, this is the third "Object name";"C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\g0epg4ph.default\cookies.sqlite"

they are called "system" cookies...does that make a difference? (sorry to be a nuisance, but the more I understand, the fewer questions I have to ask later )

the warning "that forced removal could cause instability or crash the system" only applies when you delete the file with AVG. when you clear cookies inside firefox you shouldn't have any problems... if those cookies can for any reasons not be removed by firefox, then you can try to clear that file with AVG (but close all firefox windows before you do it)

Ok, that's very helpful. One last question, then I'll stop bugging you--how come these don't go when I clear cookies in/with firefox? not individually, but with the clear cookies bit in the options/tools?

that's a good question - i don't know. i think that there is no way that cookies may set themselfes write-protected, since they are all stored in the cookies.sqlite database...
