Firefox loses addons. Sometimes it does not but more often it asks me to reinstall the addons. Addons like lastpass, Too many Tabs, Go to Outlook.com, Ghostery

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Delete the extensions.* files (e.g. extensions.json, extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

After, restart Firefox.

See "Corrupt extension files":

When I remove the mentioned files and start a clean Firefox then all the addons must be reinstalled again. This is exactly what happens when I start Firefox. It just occasionally (and very randomly) loses its addons.

You can check for problems with preferences.

Delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename/remove the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in current Firefox releases.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

There's no user.js file. Can that be the root of the problem?

The user.js file does not exist by default. It is only recommended for advanced users that need to modify preferences for a specific purpose.

The user.js file will only be present if you or other software has created this file and normally won't be present. The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session. You can delete the user.js file if you find it and you didn't create this file yourself. No need to create this file.
